Registration

Registration and entry can be made in one of two ways:

  1. Invoiced entry/purchase order and payment by direct deposit - please complete the entry form first at: https://forms.gle/ZZgMQHdQRwzEE4MN9 The invoice will be sent when the entry form is received.

    Or

  2. Up front entry and payment using a credit card through Humanitix (can be invoiced/receipt through Humanitix). Links to entry via individual heats below. Receipts will be supplied upon payment.

Entry Information

  • Entry is $100 per team of four students

  • Placement in heat will be confirmed on payment.

  • 50 Pre-quiz questions will be provided upon payment.

  • Information specific to your heat will be sent out about a month prior to your nominated heat.

Conditions

  • Kids' Lit Quiz Australia is open to students aged 10 to 13 years.

  • Students must be under 14 years on the 1st July 2026. (Not just at the time of the heat)

  • A school can enter up to 3 teams. More teams may be included if space is available in the requested heat. Contact National Coordinator

    (Elli Lightbody), if you wish to enter additional teams.

  • Teams may be mixed-grade or single-grade teams

  • Students must all be from the same school or recognised group that meets regularly (e.g. Home Schooling Group).

  • Substitutions are not permissible during the heat. The four students in the team on the day of the heat will be the students who will take part in the next level of the competition, should they win.

  • Upon receipt of entry, the school will be invoiced for the number of teams taking part and receive helpful hints to help your teams to prepare.

  • On payment, the school will be receipted and will receive their complimentary 50 pre-test questions.

  • Information specific to your heat will be sent out about a month prior to the heat taking place from your heat Coordinator.

Heat Details 2026

The majority of heats in 2026 will be face-to-face, with only one virtual heat available for schools unable to join the face-to-face heat due to location (ie being more than one hour or 100km from the closest available heat).

If there is no heat available to you locally, you are very welcome to join our Virtual Heat. Virtual heats have the same number and standard of questions, but the format is modified and face-to-face heats are much more interactive.

South Australia Heat

West Australia Heat

WEST AUSTRALIAN HEAT - We are sorry to advise that there is no WA Heat for 2026 at this time. 

KLQA Virtual Heat

KLQA Virtual Heat - date to be announced.

Important Information

The winning team from each *full heat will be eligible to take part in the Kids’ Lit Quiz ™Australia National Final, which will be held in Sydney at the State Library of NSW on Monday, 25th May 2026. 

The winning team in each heat will be provided with a subsidy to assist in travel to the final. Prizes, ribbons and trophies will be awarded at each of the heats. The National Final will have longer questions, which will be answered orally with the use of a buzzer. 

The winner of the National Final will be invited to the Kids’ Lit Quiz World Final in the Bay of Islands, New Zealand, in July (Date to be confirmed). The winning team will be provided with a subsidy to help cover the cost of their travel. Accommodation, breakfast and dinner for the team and two accompanying adults for 4 nights will be provided. 

Team members need to be aged between 10 years and 13 years. It is possible to have a younger child who is a voracious reader, BUT all team members must be under 14 years on the 1st July 2026. This is to ensure parity at an International level. 

Each team/student may only enter 1 heat. 

Please inform parents and other supporters that they are welcome to be part of the audience at all the heats and the Final.

Face-to-face heats are much more interactive and allow for a greater level of participation. The virtual heat will have the same number of questions and categories, but will be modified to fit the format. 

The virtual heat will require access to Zoom and will use ‘Socrative Student’, available both as an App and on your browser (no download required) to submit the answers. Further information will be provided to participating teams.

Information regarding what constitutes a Full Heat: 

*Heats from 15 to 35 teams are considered ‘full heats’ and the top team from those heats will have automatic entry to the National Final. 

*Heats with over 36 teams will have the top two teams proceed to the National Final. 

*Heats from 4 to 14 teams are considered ‘micro heats’ and will be combined with another micro heat to a total of 15 to 28 teams combined. These heats will have the full 100 questions, but the prizes will be modified. The top team from the combined micro heats will be invited to the National Final.

The teams in these heats will be notified of when the result will be finalised prior to their heat starting.
